Twenty chambers. One story you play.
The Lost Signal is an interactive prologue: a story that introduces the game through real moves. Find the signal, rebuild its route, carry the light and bring it home. Each of the four acts restores a beacon, leading to an ending and a transition into a real game.
Start with selecting and moving a rook. Cross between spaces, explore piece movement, practise pawn promotion, escape check and work toward checkmate. Later chambers leave more of the discovery to you, with help available when requested.
Learn one world in 2D, 3D and 4D.
Move a piece on the flat boards, find it in 3D, then rotate the 4D projection. All three views show the same position. Changing the camera does not change the move or the rules.
The story asks you to play and inspect the result, rather than only watch a demonstration. Labelled controls offer alternatives to dragging.
Understand the four coordinates →Meet Pawnie, your chess-pawn companion.
Pawnie is an animated pawn with built-in, contextual help. Tap for guidance about the screen you are using. A short hands-on setup lets you try tapping and moving Pawnie, then choose how much help you want.
- On request: Pawnie speaks when you tap.
- Gentle: occasional help after a pause and quiet reminders.
- Coach: more next steps, small celebrations and help after a pause.
Choose Ivory, Midnight or Forest appearance, adjust animation, or turn Pawnie off. Revisit these choices and replay setup from Settings or Profile.
Pawnie uses authored, built-in guidance. It is not a remote AI chat service and does not choose or play moves for you. The on-device computer opponent and move-analysis tools are separate features.
Free, optional and ready when you are.
Open the story from Home, Learn or the welcome flow. Choose guidance for a beginner or an experienced chess player; both paths follow the same twenty-chamber story. You can pause, resume or replay. Story practice does not change your saved match.
Pawnie, setup and story guidance are available in all eight app languages. Version 0.7 was verified live in the US App Store on October 14, 2026; availability can differ by region.
